Veteran with Advanced Degree Chooses National College for Hands-on Training

Aug 18, 2014

Terrence Glasgow, a retired U.S. Navy officer, recently graduated from the Bartlett Campus after earning his associate’s degree in information systems engineering.  During the ceremony, Terrence was presented with both the Leadership Award and the M.A. Smythe Award, which is given for outstanding academic achievement in a computer technology program.

Terrence, who is working as a system lane coordinator/claims representative for the Social Security Administration, holds a master’s degree in information technology management, but he was unable to advance in the IT field. “I do have an advanced degree in information technology, but I didn’t have any experience, so I came to National College to get some hands-on job training,” he explained.

During his program at National, Terrence was able to gain valuable skills that he’s using in his job today. “I got to build a computer, got to set up a network, got to troubleshoot a network, and got a lot of valuable experience that I can use on my job now,” he said.  He’s also earned several Microsoft certifications.

“It gave me the courage to apply for the positions that I wanted,” Terrence said of his program at National. “Hopefully, it will help me move over and up.”
