Employers Connect With Qualified Applicants during Campus Career Fair
May 05, 2014
The Lexington Campus recently held a career fair that allowed American National University graduates and students to network with a wide-variety of area employers. Representatives from Speedway, Xerox, the University of Kentucky STEPS program, People Plus, Home Instead, Clarion Hotel, Primerica, Allied Barton, Credit Solutions, and many more, were on hand at the event to talk one-on-one with students about employment opportunities with their companies.
Kim Lucas, director of training and compliance for Credit Solutions, said that she hired a American National University student following a previous career fair at the school. “They bring a lot of professional strength,” she said of the American National University graduates that her company employs. She had returned to find applicants to fill her current customer service, data analyst, and insurance billing job openings.
Sharnika Davis Jackson, a student in the medical office assistant program, was one of the students who met with Ms. Lucas. She said that she planned to complete an application with the company and that career center director Cheryl Howell would be assisting her in submitting her résumé to Credit Solutions.
Sharnika said that she talked with all of the employers who participated in the career fair. “Everybody had some good opportunities, so it’s a good thing for the school to do,” she said.
