Extern Making the Most of Her time at Community Clinic
Jul 30, 2012
Julia Smalley, a medical assisting and medical billing and coding student from the Danville, Kentucky Campus, is externing at Nelson County Community Clinic, a charitable healthcare organization that provides basic medical, laboratory, and pharmaceutical services to uninsured residents of the community.
Julia enjoys getting hands-on experience as she assists patients to their exam rooms and takes their vitals, performs glucose testing, and makes appointments.
“Every patient is different; two people can come in with hypertension but the underlying cause is different for each individual,” she explained with new knowledge that she’s gaining every day.
Julie is making the most of her time as an extern. “I am going to get out of my education what I put into it. My success relies on me,” she said.
