Well on Her Way

Rebecca (Becky) Iacobucci will be graduating with a health information technology degree in August and has already passed two coding certification tests. In April, she took the physician/outpatient-based CPC test and in June she passed the hospital-based exam. These certifications are standards across the country. Director of Health Information Technology (HIT) Gina Augustine said that although these tests are not mandatory, if one wants to be employed as a coder—it is absolutely essential to have the coding certifications. Becky is eager to take the Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) exam which will make her completely prepared for the job market.
Becky chose the HIT program because she wanted to work in the medical field as she knew it was a stable industry and high in demand. In addition to being a full-time student, she has been working full-time at Turning Technologies. Prior to that, she had been unemployed for almost a year after working in the automotive industry. With her prior work history, Becky said, “National College saved my sanity!” as she found new hope for a more stable and rewarding career.
As a student, Becky enjoys her classes and is confident of her preparation for a career in health information technology. She is a proud member of Club Zero, having perfect attendance for several terms. “What you put into [your education] is what is really important,” she explains. Ken Sklenar, one of her favorite instructors, says that Becky is always prepared for class; she has a clear understanding of the subject matter; and she asks insightful questions leading to class discussion and learning opportunities for her classmates. Becky serves as a great model to her teenage son, studying diligently to maintain her 3.95 grade point average. We wish Becky the best for the future.
