Early Employment

Marla Bryner is in her 4th term at National College and is already hired as a medical assistant. She attended a job fair held at the Youngstown Campus on April 20th and met representatives from Primary Health Network, based in western Pennsylvania. Two days later she was called for an interview and was subsequently hired, starting as a part-time medical assistant on June 1st. She chose part-time hours because she does not want to sacrifice study time, aiming to maintain her 4.0 grade point average. Once she is graduated from school Marla will be a full-time employee with benefits including tuition reimbursement. Marla's interviewers said that they were very impressed with her and our campus. They reviewed the medical assisting curriculum and were very satisfied with the skills that our students learn as they precisely meet their requirements.
Marla worked for seven years as a waitress and liked that job, but realized that it had no future. Marla is a great role model as she looks forward to school every day and says that "it is true that hard work does pay off." National College was recommended by her sister-in-law, who was also a medical assisting student. Marla came for a tour and says that "everything fell into place", the instructors are "great and welcoming" and the staff always has answers to her questions. Marla is a great role model as she looks forward to school every day. Her two young daughters are excited about their mom getting a college degree. Marla is active in the Student Activities Council and is a member of Club Zero, having perfect attendance for most of her time here.
For at least the first year on the new job, Marla will be a "floater," and later will be assigned a home site. There are over 300 employees at the various locations of Primary Health Network and the company has a policy of promoting from within so Marla is very excited by future prospects. She plans to continue her education by becoming a registered nurse.
