Host to OACCS

On April 16th, the Youngstown Campus hosted a meeting for the Ohio Association of Career Colleges and Schools (OACCS) and State Senator Joe Schiavoni from the 33rd Ohio District. The purpose of the meeting was to inform the senator about the role of career colleges and schools in Ohio; the success of our students; and the positive financial impact in northeast Ohio and the entire state. David Rankin, Executive Director of OACCS, gave an excellent presentation on the real impact of career colleges and emphasized the importance of college directors having an equally good relationship with area employers as well as their students. During the meeting, Regional Director of Operations Greg Shields noted that between the number of people hired by the College and the area residents that are trained by the College, "National is helping re-build the economy in Ohio."
Each of the approximately 20 representatives from various colleges made a brief statement about their school and related a success story regarding their students. Three students from the Youngstown Campus, Debra Howk, Christina Chisolm, and Taunya Bourne, talked about what National College means to them.
Taunya, a graduate from the business administration-management degree program, spoke about the family atmosphere at the College. Christina will graduate in May from the business administration-management degree program and talked about how her classes will help her to operate her own beauty salon. Debra, also graduating in May from the business administration-accounting degree program, is a leasing manager for 200 apartments. She plans to continue her education and some day earn a master's degree.
