Dedicated to the Medical Field

Shaquala Stanford (pictured) is dedicated to the medical field. She started working as a nurse aid at the age of 16 and later became a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). She is now in her fourth term in the Pharmacy Technician program at the Youngstown Campus. While she attends National full-time, Shaquala also works at St. Elizabeth's Hospital and works in private duty health care, giving her full-time hours. She is a native of Youngstown and hopes to gain employment in a pharmacy in the Mahoning Valley, perhaps at a hospital's pharmacy. Her educational goal is to get a bachelor's degree.
In addition to being a full-time student and working two jobs, Shaquala has a four year-old and an almost one year-old. Her eyes shine with excitement when she talks about how her daughter loves to learn. She is setting a great example for her children to follow as she is determined to succeed.
Shaquala is glad to be at National as she likes the small class sizes, that everything is together in a single building, and the availability of tutors. She feels that she is definitely getting her money's worth and that her instructors are great motivators. Shaquala specifically noted that Instructor Paula Kelley is very strict but she appreciates it. She says that Paula "opens your brain" and makes sure that you learn.
