Project Management Field Trip

On Tuesday evening, January 13, MBA students in Darryl Agee’s Business Research class attended a meeting of the Southwest Virginia Chapter Project Management Institute (PMI), of which Darryl is currently serving as Chapter President.
PMI is a non-profit professional organization dedicated to advancing project management through standards, education, and professional exchange. The class, which is studying how statistical analysis can be applied to business, is learning how project management is an integral part of developing process improvement methodologies.
The meeting was highlighted with a talk by Alex Gurevich, PMP (Project Management Professional), who spoke on “Key Factors to Ensure Project Success.” After the meeting, Darryl and students held their regular Tuesday evening class meeting at the Roanoke Higher Education Center and discussed the importance of joining professional organizations.
According to student Peggy Randall, who works for AEP, “It was a great meeting! This organization provides a necessary function for professional business people. I was unaware before attending that this organization even existed, but I was so impressed with the meeting that I am now thinking of joining PMI.” Participants thought the evening was very informative!
