Another Hired Extern

Pikeville graduate Brianna Asher recently began working at the in-patient pharmacy for Highlands Regional Hospital in Prestonsburg as a Certified Pharmacy Technician. Brianna graduated from the Pharmacy Technician program on May 23rd and she completed her externship at the hospital before she was hired. "I love working at Highlands," Brianna says. "The people are friendly and it is a very nice, relaxed work environment." After completing her first 90 days, Brianna will receive 401-K benefits, health insurance, and life insurance. These benefits are extremely valuable to heras a new mother.
Externships are a great way for students to get hands on experience working in their field of study and to get their foot in the door at a specific company. "National really helped prepare me to begin working at Highlands Pharmacy," said Brianna. "I took the certification exam the day after graduation and I passed it with flying colors. I also think working at Highlands for my externship helped me get hired there."
Between her externship, hands-on job training, and career center resources provided by Career Center Director Donna Dye, it is no surprise that Brianna's was offered a permanent position at Highlands Regional Hospital.
