Recognizing Medical Assistants
During the week of October 19th, the Nashville Campus kicked off Medical Assistants Recognition Week with a spelling contest between students in the Terminology of Body Systems classes. Students Kristine U. Pennell (left) and Tami Lynn Scheibl (right) were part of the winning team called "The Greatest." Kristine found the contest to be "fun and important." She said, "Many of the terms are very complicated. However, it's important to know both their pronunciation and definition in order to administer the appropriate care for the patients." Tami said she enjoyed the team atmosphere of students coming together in order to accurately spell the words. She said, "Many of the words were very long and sounded differently than how they were spelled. Working with a group helped." Both teams enjoyed cake at the end of the contest.
