A Business Orientation

On June 11th, Business Department Chair Patrenna Hancock took students in the Small Business Management class to the Memphis Regional Chamber of Commerce Orientation. The Chamber has been in business since 1838, helping Memphis develop its business economy. It now has 42 staff members and 2,300 business members.
Students were given the opportunity to meet the chamber executive staff and listen to them talk about their responsibilities and the services they provide. New business members introduced themselves and provided information about their businesses. National students introduced themselves and shared information about the college. Student Laquita Hampton, a young entrepreneur, presented her start up business idea with the Chamber staff and received overwhelming assistance with her new business venture.
Chamber representatives were impressed with the participating students and encouraged them to pursue their dreams and become members of the Chamber. The students, in turn, all agreed that the chamber was a wonderful business resource.
