New Look

In preparation for the job market, the Memphis Campus recently hosted a “New Look Day” for students. Career Center Director Dorothy Gourdine invited Teresa Kohn, an independent beauty consultant, and Gwendolyn Toombs from First Tennessee Bank to help students prepare for life after college.
Ms. Kohn gave information on makeup and how to have a professional look for the work place. Students were taught how to apply makeup quickly while on the go for work. They were given tips on what makeup is appropriate for daytime office wear. Suitable hair styles were also discussed.
In an effort to keep students informed of their financial matters, Ms. Tombs was available on-campus to answer questions about bank accounts. She also gave them tips on saving from the banking industry. The campus has previously shown students how to order and read credit reports and how to budget their money. Students have also been given housing and consumer education. Participants have said that they now feel more knowledgeable and less intimidated when it comes to managing their money.
