Mentoring Team

Collean Payne organized the mentoring lunch and supplied beneficial insight on the corporate culture. Ivy Caldwell not only participated in our initial fieldtrip to FedEx last November, she was also a dynamic speaker in our First Annual Business Forum and now she is offering her mentoring skills to the students. Callie Herd, a noted activist for education, encouraged the students to pursue their career goals, as well as continue their pursuit of educational goals.  She is known in Memphis and abroad through her blog, www.ctherd.blogspot.com, which she edits frequently. The blog is an asset to students everywhere by offering scholarship, internship, and community service information.

Business Administration student Sherika Blanton is currently employed at the FedEx Hub Operations and is participating in a management program. She benefited greatly from the mentors’ sound advice and was introduced to new opportunities within the company. Students Wardie Parks, Shantel Ross, and Cassandra Hunes, active tutors at National, were commended by the mentors for their desire to help their fellow classmates. “I am excited because we are very fortunate to have a positive relationship with an industry leader such as FedEx and we look forward to strengthening our bond as time goes on,” says Business Department Chair Patrenna Hancock. She plans on continuing the mentoring program with FedEx, International Paper and other notable companies in Memphis.
