Constitution Celebration

On September 17, students and faculty at the Martinsville Campus gathered to honor Constitution Day during day and evening ceremonies. Michael Goehle (pictured), the campus’s new Community Resource Coordinator, spoke on the significance of the historic document at the gatherings. He explained how the Constitution has a direct effect on students as well as all Americans as they live their everyday lives. Michael placed an emphasis on the 13th Amendment, which outlawed slavery, and the 15th and 19th Amendments, which guaranteed Americans the right to vote regardless of race or sex. Afterwards, students lined up for pizza sponsored by the Student Activities Council.
