Fast-Track Achiever

Some people just have a certain drive; a desire to succeed that won't tolerate indecision or obstacles. Indianapolis Campus graduate Sierra Barnett is just such a person. And when she made up her mind to pursue a higher education, it didn't take more than her visit to the Indianapolis campus before Sierra knew that National would be the college to help her accomplish her goals.
As a recent high school graduate, Sierra wanted to get into school soon before she lost her motivation. She knew it wouldn't be easy being a full-time mom and going to school, but it was worth the effort. Shortly after receiving her Associates degree in Business Management, Sierra was employed full-time at National, a major step-up from the part-time job she was working before she received her degree. Now she draws from her experiences as a student at National as she works with new students, encouraging them in their studies and helping them achieve their goals.
"I enjoy helping the students," she says, "I know what they are going through - I know it's hard to go to school full-time, go to work, taking care of your kids, all of that." But it's important to Sierra that she keeps pushing the students and urging them to continue pursuing their education: "I like to see people graduate and further their career because it's hard out here without an education," she says.
And she follows her own advice. Currently studying to get her bachelor's degree and planning on getting her Master's degree, Sierra is looking forward to her future as well. "I've always seen myself in the business field," she states, and she's "Focused-getting my education." Her attitude and commitment is one of the attributes that led to her being named to the National College Alumni Hall of Achievement this past week at the Indianapolis graduation ceremony.
"[Getting my education] was a wonderful experience," Sierra shares, "I'm glad I did it here at National."
