Graduation 2008

Held on Friday night, May 30th, in James Madison University’s Memorial Hall, the graduation ceremony for the Harrisonburg campus was a fitting culmination of months and years of hard work. The 2008 graduating class included 77 total graduates, 21 of whom graduated with High Honors and 17 of whom graduated with Honors.
Human Resources Director Patricia M. Snyder used simple examples and a stuffed snake as a prop to remind graduates to beware of the “snakes” they may encounter in life – all those people and circumstances that seek to distract them from their goals. Her graduation speech was clever and inspiring. In addition Ms. Snyder said she empathizes with students who have returned to school and overcome significant challenges in their lives to complete their program of study. She explained she was a single mother of four children who attended three colleges.
Despite Ms. Snyder’s impressive professional career of more than 25 years, she never completed her bachelor’s degree. At the conclusion of her speech, Campus Director Jack Ekey presented her a gift of appreciation. In addition, she was also presented with an honorary Bachelor of Business Administration-Management degree, in recognition of her impressive professional achievements. Ms. Snyder was very surprised and touched with her honorary degree. In her note of thanks, she wrote that she never expected this and is very proud to be a National College graduate!
Congratulations to one and all!
