Honoring our Veterans

The students, faculty, staff, and guests at the Florence paid tribute to the brave men and women who have served our country and the many who have given the ultimate sacrifice protecting our freedoms. A large crowd was gathered on the Florence campus where the ceremony opened with the presentation of the colors by the Army National Guard. Kentucky State Representative Addia Wuchner addressed the crowd about patriotism and how every citizen should take an active role in their country. Daniel Wallace, student and National Guardsmen, articulated the story of the 13 fold prayer of the American Flag while American Legion Post 20 Commander Carol Hammond and Vice Commander Jim Hammond folded the flag as they do at numerous funerals throughout the year as members of the Elsmere Honor Guard.
There was a closing given by the Elsmere Honor Guard with a three shot volley of rifle fire. Bugler Bob Wetherbee played Taps with Debbie Stacey, Associate Pastor of Vineyard Christian Church, giving the closing benediction. It was a touching and moving Veterans Day ceremony for everyone.
