Located in the heart of the Bluegrass Region of Central Kentucky, the Danville campus on East Lexington Avenue is easily accessible from US 27, US 127, and US 150. The campus resides in an area known for its broad economic foundation, and acts as a regional hub for the area's health care services, enabling our graduates to explore possible career opportunities across a wide range of industries.

Our Faculty

The key to our success is a faculty of industry-leading professionals.  Drawing on personal insights, our instructors provide students with a real-world perspective to prepare them for success in well-defined fields of employment.

At National College we emphasize individual attention for our students, from enrollment to graduation with frequent and helpful faculty interaction every step of the way.  Our class sizes are smaller, with an average of 15:1 student-to-faculty ratio, allowing for one-on-one interaction with instructors.

Karen Baldock Gordon - Instructor

Karen Baldock Gordon has served in a variety of Business Management positions in the last 15-20 years and began teaching in 2008. She now works for National College teaching a variety of Business, Accounting, and Computer classes. She was awarded Boyle County's Administrative Professional of the Year in 2007 while employed with Christian Care Communities. She has a passion to teach her students the material that is presented in each of her classes. She went back to school and earned her degree as an adult and can give the students first hand knowledge of how important this education can be to them. She holds an MBA with a concentration in Accounting and Human Resources, a Bachelor's degree in Management and Accounting, and an Associate degree in Accounting and Management Information Systems.

Saundra Birch is an IT professional with more than 20 years of experience working in a variety of different industries, including higher education, construction, manufacturing, food and beverage, and government. She earned her bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Kentucky State University and currently works as a Technology Coordinator in higher education. She is an instructor of keyboarding and computer courses at the Danville, Kentucky Campus.

David Layton - Instructor

David Layton practiced law in Lancaster, Kentucky from 1971 to 2000. He received his Bachelor's degree in Accounting from Eastern Kentucky University and his Juris Doctorate degree in Law from the University of Kentucky. David was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the Signal Corps of the United States Army Reserve in 1968 and served until 1996, when he retired as a Lieutenant Colonel. During his military service, he spent 20 years at the Pentagon, primarily working on the Army Budget, and graduated from the US Army Command and General Staff College in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas when he completed the resident reserve course. He teaches accounting, law, humanities, ethics, and business courses at the Danville, Kentucky Campus, where he also serves as the Department Chair for Accounting.

Dora Patrick is a graduate of National College and Morehead State University. She is a Certified Pharmacy Technician and an instructor at the Danville, Kentucky Campus.

Sophia L.  Rucker Ellis - Instructor

Sophia Rucker Ellis holds an associate degree in business from Kentucky State University, a Bachelor of Arts degree in organizational management from Midway College, a Bachelor of Arts degree in Diversity Leadership, and a Master of Public Administration degree from Kentucky State University, as well as a Kentucky Real Estate License. She is the author of several books of encouragement and also serves as the assistant editor for African American Christian Newspaper. Sophia has also run her own fashion business, Lost Crowns, for over 12 years. She is an instructor of keyboarding, introductory math, introductory English, and business courses at National College's Danville, Kentucky Campus.

Stephanie Slone has worked in the medical field for more than 5 years. She is currently pursuing her Bachelor's degree in Health Care Management. She holds both Registered Medical Assisting and Certified Medical Assisting certifications. She also has national certification as a phlebotomist. Stephanie currently teaches pharmacology, dosage and calculations, as well as all clinical medical assisting courses and serves as the Director of Health Care Education for the Danville, KY Campus.

Stephen Sullivan has worked in the education field for 38 years. He received his BS in Mathematics from the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire and then his MA - Education and Rank 1 - Education from Eastern Kentucky University. Stephen taught mathematics and computer science in the public schools for 29 years. After retiring from the public schools, he started working for National College teaching computer application and mathematics classes. Stephen is currently the Department Chair for Computer Applications Technology at the Danville, KY Campus.

Lee Wilmot - Instructor

Lee Wilmot is a professional educator with 33 years of experience. He holds a bachelor's degree in Agriculture from Berea College and a master's degree in Vocational Education and Planned Sixth Year from the University of Kentucky. He is an instructor at the Danville, Kentucky Campus.

Jo Ann Wilmot taught for thirty-eight years in the Kentucky public school system before joining the National College faculty in 2005, where she is an instructor of general education and humanities courses. Jo Ann also serves as the Danville, Kentucky Campus librarian. She received a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Western Kentucky University, a master's degree in Library Science along with a Rank I in Educational Supervision from Union College, and was granted a scholarship to obtain Special Education certification (K-12) from the University of Kentucky.

Directions to the Danville KY location:

Get directions to National College's Danville, KY Campus

Traveling from Lexington on US 27, take KY 34 toward Danville. This is Lexington Avenue and the campus is on the right next to Danville High School.

From Frankfort, go south on US 127, Harrodsburg Road, to Business Route 127, which is Maple Avenue. Turn left on West Lexington and our campus will be on the left.

From the southeast, use US 150 to Lexington Avenue.

From the south, come into Danville on US 127, Hustonville Road, which becomes Fourth Street. At the Main Street intersection, continue north two blocks to West Lexington Avenue and turn right two blocks to the campus.
