Mock Trial

During a mock trial at the Danville Campus in the Practical Law class, students were put through the legal system by reenacting a murder trial. Guests Kentucky District Judge Janet Booth (District Judge for Lincoln, Garrard, and Jessamine Counties) and John Hackley, a private attorney in Lincoln County, were present to help with the procedures. Student and "defendant" Bryan Gaskin was put on trial for murder, and the student jury found him guilty. Students had fun and learned a lot about the legal system and the actual court proceedings for a murder trial.
Instructor Stacy Coontz is pictured with students Joshua Wallingford and Jeff Durbin (the prosecuting attorneys) during the mock trial exercise.
