Winning Essay

Congratulations to Tammy Yates, instructor at the Danville campus, for winning a scholarship to attend the Kentucky Society of Medical Assistants (KSMA) annual convention. This year the event was held on April 10th – 13th in Paducah and Tammy was one of five to win a stipend waiving the conference registration fee, a $100 value.
To be eligible for the stipend, the applicant must submit an essay explaining why they want to attend the annual KSMA convention. Tammy’s essay was selected as a winner. After the convention the stipend recipients submit an essay regarding their KSMA convention experience which is then published in the KSMA newsletter and circulated throughout the state to all KSMA members.
Tammy is herself a graduate from the Lexington Campus of National College. She has been a member of KSMA since 1995. She not only teaches courses in the health care education programs at the Danville campus but is also the President of the Kentucky Bluegrass Chapter of Medical Assistants and she currently serves as the Marketing Chair for KSMA. With many years of service with the association, Tammy has served in several positions with the KSMA, including State President. She encourages students every year to submit their essay for the KSMA Stipend Award. The experience is well worth the effort. Tammy was honored to represent National College and the KY Bluegrass Chapter as the KSMA 2008 Stipend recipient.
