Flag Day

On June 14th (Flag Day), the Charlottesville Army Recruiting Station, under the direction of SFC Michael Hartzell and MAJ Robert Trent and in partnership with the Charlottesville Downtown Business Association, conducted a celebration at the Charlottesville Pavilion commemorating the 235th birthday of the United States Army.
National College, an event sponsor and ardent supporter of our veterans and military men and women, provided bottled water for everyone in attendance as well as three sheet cakes. Regional Director of Military Affairs Kelley Chamberlain and Community Resource Coordinator Andrea Copeland offered their support to the event and attended on behalf of the College.
In spite of the extremely warm temperatures, hundreds filled the Pavilion to be part of this spectacular event that included posting of the colors; a keynote address by Brigadier General John Miller, Commander for the Judge Advocate General’s Legal Center and School; swearing in of Future Soldiers; special recognition of all veterans; and a musical performance by the Charlottesville Municipal Band. The entire ceremony aired live on Charlottesville’s Own TV10.
