Celebrating Graduates

On Friday, May 29th, the Charlottesville Campus held its commencement exercises, graduating over 60 students eager to begin their business, health care and information technology careers. Charlottesville's Mayor Dave Norris gave the keynote address. Hundreds of supporters and well-wishers packed the Park Street First Baptist Church to celebrate this great occasion. Balloons, flowers, hugs, and kisses were given to the graduates from proud family members who recognized the hard work put forth and sacrifices made to see this dream of theirs come true.
Alicia Brooks, the recipient of the Achievement Award, had a lot to celebrate. She and her husband, Isaiah Brooks, came to National College through the Katrina Assistance & Relief Effort (KARE) grant, which was given to survivors of Hurricane Katrina who enrolled in any of the National College campuses in Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, Tennessee, or Virginia. Amidst devastation and destruction, Alicia and Isaiah never gave up. The both enrolled in the Charlottesville Campus. With KARE, the College helped to make it possible for the Brooks' to begin a new life for themselves, and their four sons. On Friday, Alicia graduated with from the Pharmacy Technology and Medical Billing & Coding programs while Isaiah received an associate degree in the business administration-management program. Congratulations to the Charlottesville Class of 2009.
