Graduate Success

The Charlottesville Campus recently caught up with graduate Ronald Stevenson who is now an assistant director for Cavalier Computers and UVA Medical Center Bookstore. Ronald (pictured) graduated from National in May 2000 with a degree in Computer Systems Management. His story of how he became a student is an interesting one.
Ron’s wife had been toying with the idea of returning to school. She decided she wanted to learn more about what we offered. Being the supportive husband that he is, Ron came to National with his wife to meet with an admissions representative. Although his wife went on to pursue other opportunities, Ron ended up being the one to enroll. He knew that completing a degree from National was just what he needed to advance his career.
Ron is appreciative of the education he received here. He said, “National helped get me pointed in the right direction to gain the base-level skills and knowledge needed to get started on my journey.” Colt Mazeau, a long-time computer instructor at the Charlottesville Campus, grew to be one of Ron’s favorite instructors as he taught the material in an “easy manner.” Although he was already fairly computer savvy, Ron did manage to enjoy other classes including his accounting classes and Western Civilization.
Being assistant director of a busy store that sells computers, books, equipment, clothing and supplies to UVA faculty, staff, and students, there is always an opportunity for Ron to utilize the skills and training he received at National. However it’s the interaction he has with the customers that gives him the most satisfaction.
