A Healthy Visitor
Bluefield Campus medical assisting students in Instructor Sherry Dillow’s Non-invasive Clinical Procedures class are studying human nutrition and recently enjoyed a visit from guest speaker Christin Sell. Ms. Sell is a third year Human Nutrition, Foods & Exercise major with a concentration in dietetics at Virginia Tech. She traveled from Blacksburg to discuss varying aspects about diet and nutrition including food groups, nutrition labels, dietary requirements, and the affect of diet on health and the disease process. She delivered an informational presentation and provided insight into how medical assistants and dieticians can work together as members of the health care team to provide for a patient’s dietary needs. Discussion was active and informative and Ms. Sell agreed to return for related discussions in the future.
