The broad knowledge gained will provide a solid base for entry into a wide range of corporate positions such as marketing, sales, administration, human resources, accounting, and even business ownership. Studies include accounting, business law, computer systems and software technologies, marketing, supervisory management, consumer behavior, communications, and small business management.

Richard E. Crislip has worked in a variety of positions within the data processing arena for over 40 years. He has most recently worked as Help Desk, network monitor, mainframe operator, and shift supervisor for FirstEnergy. Richard holds an associate degree in data processing and a bachelor's degree in business administration and holds certifications in CompTia CE and MS-MCT. He serves as Department Chair of the Information Systems Engineering program at the National College Akron Area Campus.

Cari Gallagher - Director of Surgical Technology

Cari Gallagher has worked in the medical field for 10 years. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Organizational Management from Ashford University, National Certification of Surgical Technology from NBSTSA, and is a Certified First Assistant for HMHP. She is currently the Director of Surgical Technology at the Akron Area Campus.

Norm Katz has worked in the business education field for over 20 years and is a highly experienced manufacturing supply chain manager. He holds a Master of Business Administration degree from John Carroll University and is certified in production and inventory management. He teaches a wide range of accounting courses and serves as Chair of the Business/Accounting departments at the Akron Area Campus.

Frances Nicholson - Pharmacy Technician Department Chair

Frances Nicholson has worked in the field of pharmacy for over eight years and is presently practicing as a pharmacy technician with a local hospital. Frances has a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Akron and is currently pursuing a Masters in Public Health through the CEOMPH program at the University of Akron. She has been a Certified Pharmacy Technician since 2006. Frances teaches pharmacology, pharmacy practices, advanced calculations, and other medical courses pertaining to pharmacy at the Akron Area Campus, where she serves as Department Chair of the Pharmacy Technician program.

Bill Roxbury has over 35 years of work experience in Information Technology, including positions as programmer, project manager, and systems administrator. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in industrial management and is ITIL Foundation Certified for IT-Service Management. Bill is an instructor of Information Technology courses at the Akron Area Campus.

Jean Ryan has worked in the medical field for over 15 years. In the last 11 years, she specialized in physical rehabilitation and home health care at Wadsworth-Rittman Hospital. Jean holds an associate degree and is a Registered Nurse. She is an instructor in the Health Care program at National College's Akron Area Campus.

James Shurtleff is an instructor at the National College Akron Area Campus and serves as the clinical coordinator for the surgical technology program. He is a nationally certified surgical technologist.

Frank Stuchal has served in a variety of positions within the tire industry, including various technical and managerial positions. Frank received his bachelor's degree from John Carroll University and his PhD in chemistry from Purdue University. He has taught math and chemistry courses and is currently teaching Environmental Science.

Renee Tanner has worked in the medical and business fields for more than 25 years. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Organizational Management from Ashford University, a national certification as an Emergency Medical Technician from Monroe Community College, and has a Certified Medical Transcriptionist certificate from Scottsdale Community College and The Mayo Clinic. Renee is an instructor at the National College Cleveland Area and Akron Area Campuses.

Brett A. Tipton has taught speech, writing, and management courses at various colleges for over ten years. He has been a member of Toastmasters International and served as Vice President of Membership for Tree City Toastmasters. Brett holds a Master of Arts degree in communication and rhetoric from the University of Akron.

Debra Tymcio

Director of Health Care Education

Debra Tymcio graduated from Malone College with a degree in Radiologic Technology and enjoyed a twenty-five year career as a registered diagnostic radiographer. For the past thirteen years, Debra has taught medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and medical ethics to students in the allied health professions. She currently serves as the Director of Health Care Education at National College's Akron Area Campus.

Jeremy Vanderwyst - Director of Health Information Management

Jeremy Vanderwyst holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Information Management and is a Registered Health Information Administrator. Jeremy worked as an HIM professional at the Cleveland Clinic and the Cleveland VA Medical Center prior to coming to National College. Jeremy is an instructor of Healthcare Statistics and Information Systems and Technology courses, along with many other Health Information Management core courses at the Akron Area Campus, where he serves as Director of the Health Information Management program.

Directions to the Akron Area OH location:

Get directions to American National Unviersity's Charlottesville, Virginia Campus

From I-76: Take exit 33 for OH-43 toward Kent/Hartville, heading north. After approximately 3 miles, turn left on to Haymaker Parkway, then continue another 2 miles and turn right on Fishcreek Rd. The campus is approximately ½ mile on your right.

From I-80/Ohio Turnpike: Take exit 180 for OH-8 heading south. After approximately 7 miles, take the Graham Road exit toward Silver Lake/Akron Area, and turn left on to Graham Road. After approximately 3-½ miles, turn right on Fishcreek Road. The campus is approximately ½ mile on your left.

From the south on I-77: Remain on I-77N until Akron, remaining on OH-8 N to Cuyahoga Falls. Take the Graham Road exit toward Silver Lake, turning right on to Graham Road. After approximately 3-½ miles, turn right on Fishcreek Road. The campus is approximately ½ mile on your left.
