Friendly Competition

Students, staff, and faculty at the Akron Area campus recently participated in a "competitive" food drive and collected over 200 food items for holiday baskets. The medical programs donated the most items and will receive a lunch compliments of Campus Director Starlett Mitchell. The food was collected for a new non-profit in Akron called Butterflies for Christ. Volunteers Sandra Deschazior (pictured left), Denise Robinson (second left), and Carmen McCall (third left), expressed their gratitude to everyone who participated in the drive. Pharmacy technology student Laura Kinter (fourth left) and health information technology student Marva Mims (right) represented the medical programs and helped to distribute the donations to the volunteers. The mission of Butterflies for Christ is to help people in need and connect them to different resources. The group has plans to provide shelter, educational resources, and job skills help in the future. For more information, please visit their website at www.butterfliesforchrist.com.
