Dr. Debbie Brassell received her Master of Science degree in Speech-Language Pathology and has been providing speech-language services in different educational, hospital, and clinical settings for 35 years. She also holds a PhD in Healthcare Administration and a Juris Doctor (JD) degree, as well as an Executive JD Degree specializing in health care law. Debbie has led a research project in Dublin, Ireland, working with children with Autism and Down Syndrome; obtained a Graduate Certificate in Hippotherapy and developed a Hippotherapy Program in Bedford, Virginia, using horses to achieve rehabilitation goals with children and adults; and authored a book: Alzheimer's Disease: Survivor or Victim? Know the Facts, dedicated to her grandmother. She has been an instructor since 2005 at the American National University Roanoke Valley Campus.

Annette Chamberlin has served in a variety of positions within the business community, including Health Care Consultant, Vice President of Field Operations, Regional Director of Operations and Management, Marketing Director, Retail Consultant, Merchandising Consultant, and Buyer Strategist and is currently serving on the Board of Directors for several local businesses. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Roanoke College, a Master of Business Administration degree from Averett University, a Master of Arts degree in History from Virginia Tech, and a Ph.D. from Virginia Tech. Annette serves as chair of the Master's Program at the American National University Roanoke Valley Campus and has delivered several professional seminars and talks on management and teaching for professional organizations. She is an instructor of management, organizational behavior, leadership, and business policy courses.

Lauren Chen

Lauren Chen graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in government from the College of William & Mary, and she graduated with High Honors from UNC-Chapel Hill School of Law. She initially worked as an Assistant Special Counsel to the NC Attorney General, focusing on methamphetamine abuse and cyber crimes. She then worked for a number of years representing indigent criminal defendants in both district and superior court proceedings as an Assistant Public Defender, first in Charlotte, NC, and then in Hendersonville, NC. Lauren joined the faculty of American National University in the fall of 2011 and is the Department Chair of the Paralegal Studies Program. She is an active member of the Distinguished Young Woman of Virginia Scholarship Program and sits on the boards of the Roanoke Chapter of the College of William & Mary Alumni Organization and the Roanoke Valley Paralegal Association. She is also a member of the NC State Bar, the Roanoke Bar Association, and RVLSA, the Association for Legal Professionals.

He is employed by GridPoint Inc. as a Supply Chain Manager. Hugh holds two professional certifications in purchasing: Certified Purchasing Manager (C.P.M.) and Accredited Purchasing Practitioner (A.P.P.). She has 7 years of experience in trauma nursing, outpatient clinical experience in cardiology and orthopedics, and over 20 years of medical and vocational case management. Patricia is coordinator of an area-wide rehabilitation networking breakfast; past president of both the Virginia Association of Rehab Nurses and the Virginia Association of Rehabilitation professionals; on the steering committee for the Roanoke Area Mayor's Committee for People with Disabilities; and has served on boards for the Council of Community Services. She is a healthcare instructor for the American National University Roanoke Valley Campus.

Shobhana has earned several technology certificates, such as CompTia A+, Mastering Web Application Development using visual interdev 6.0, and creating and managing web solutions using Frontpage 2000. Mathew S. George has served in a variety of management and accounting positions in the business and not-for-profit sectors, has owned a travel agency and a real estate business, and was a realtor licensed in the state of Virginia. Mathew received his Bachelor of Science degree in management from Brigham Young University and his Master of Business Administration degree from Virginia Tech. He teaches business, marketing, and management courses and is chair of the business management programs for the American National University Roanoke Valley Campus and the Online program. Mathew is also an ACICS evaluator and performs accreditation visits at other colleges across the country.

Benjamin Graham

Ben Graham has been an instructor at the American National University Roanoke Valley Campus since 1999 and teaches business, computer, and mathematics courses. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in history from Wake Forest College, a Bachelor of Science degree in construction technology from Montana State University, and a Master of Science degree in civil engineering. He is also Microsoft Office User Specialist certified in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access. Ben is a Distinguished Toastmaster and served on active duty with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, completing projects in Germany, Viet Nam, Idaho, and Saudi Arabia, where he managed a half-billion dollar construction program. Upon leaving military service, he managed an architectural firm and an associated development company and was a project manager for design and construction of medical facilities in Virginia, Florida, and Mississippi. He has been licensed as an insurance agent and a securities broker, was active in financing mortgages, and a consultant to businesses and individuals for budgeting, planning and organizing, computer training and troubleshooting, financial advice and personal development seminars.

Michael serves on numerous boards such as CHIP (Child Health Improvement Partnership), Family Services of Roanoke, the Roanoke Symphony Orchestra, and the Legislative Advocacy Committee with the Roanoke Regional Chamber of Commerce. Recognized by The Blue Ridge Journal as one of the "Top 20 leaders under 40," Mike has a true love for business and enjoys being on the cutting edge of change. In 2009, he partnered with his wife to found Hamlar Enterprises, a business brokerage and consulting firm that serves clients within Roanoke and beyond. Michael received his bachelor's degree from Wake Forest University where he was a Seattle Bowl champion for the Demon Deacons. To enrich his knowledge of the funeral business, he also obtained an associate degree from mortuary school at John Tyler Community College. He also holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Liberty University and is pursuing his Doctorate in Business Administration from Walden University. Linda D. Slough is a solo practitioner who practices claimant's workers' compensation law. She graduated from James Madison University and the T.C. Williams School of Law at the University of Richmond. She is admitted to practice in Virginia and Pennsylvania. Linda is an instructor of paralegal courses at the American National University Roanoke Valley Campus and has been a speaker at continuing legal education seminars. In addition, she is a member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum and has been included in the Best Lawyers in America since 2009. Her office was also listed by US News and World Report as a Best Law Firm for 2010 and 2011. Linda was listed in The Roanoker magazine as a top attorney in Roanoke in 2009 and 2011. In 2012, she was listed in Virginia Living magazine as a Legal Eagle in workers' compensation law in Southwest Virginia.

She brought a diverse background of experience to her position: serving as an Adjunct Instructor with the college for four years, over three years as a Career Development Counselor, and over twenty-five years of customer service in the hospitality industry. Gail's credentials have also prepared her to deliver critical professional services to her students in her role as Academic Dean.
