Directions:

Coming from Interstate 64, take the Route 29 bypass north and follow the exit ramp at the sign for Washington D.C.

You're now on US-29/Emmet Street. Travel about 7.6 miles on Route 29 north.

Make a U-turn at Lewis and Clark Drive. Entrance to National College is on right.

From the north, you'll find us on Route 29 about 1 mile north of Charlottesville-Albemarle Airport.

William Alberts received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy from the University of Virginia and his Juris Doctorate from the University of South Carolina and was admitted to the South Carolina and Virginia State Bar Associations. His legal experience spans over 20 years and includes positions such as legal researcher, law book editor, and private practice as a sole practitioner. As an infantry First Lieutenant in the VA Army NG, he served as a platoon leader and Company Executive Officer/Detachment Commander. For most of his life, William participated in and now is the sole operator of the family farming operations. For 5 years he was the contracts administrator and editor of NavComTelCom's VHF and SHF Antenna Maintenance Manuals. William was the author of the 17th, 18th and 19th editions of the Instructor's Resource Manual to accompany Heintz-Perry's College Accounting. He instructs Law, accounting, management and other business and general education courses at the National College Charlottesville Campus and currently serves as Department Chair for the Business Management program.

Alan Alterman worked in the textile industry for more than 25 years, first as a technical manager within the industry, then as a lab manager at an industry sponsored research facility, and finally as the owner of a company producing and marketing quality control software to the industry. He has taught conferences and seminars for the textile industry and was an associate professor of textiles at the graduate level. Alan holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Textile Engineering, a Master of Science degree in Textile Technology, and MOUS Certification in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. He currently instructs computer applications courses at the Charlottesville Campus.

Stacy Burkett has worked in the IT field for over 5 years and has served in a variety of positions within the IT field, including Tech Support Representative, Federal IT Work Study, and Adjunct Faculty Instructor. She holds a bachelor's degree from National College and is a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer. She is an instructor of Server 2008, Windows 7, and other IT courses for the National College Charlottesville Campus and currently serves as Director of the Information Systems Engineering program.

Registered Nurse

Jules DeFord began her nursing career as a psychiatric technician at the University of Virginia, Blue Ridge Hospital and completed her Associate Degree in Nursing at Piedmont Virginia Community College. She worked at UVA in Women's Health as a nurse, where she practiced nursing on the Maternity Unit, in the Newborn Nursery, the Labor and Delivery Unit and the Operating room. Jules also worked for Region Ten Community Service Board as a psychiatric nurse as well as a Radiation/Oncology nurse on the units at Martha Jefferson Hospital and the University of Virginia. She joined the National College Charlottesville Faculty in 2009 and currently teaches many of the medical core courses.

John Michael Donohue - Instructor

Following a career of over ten years in complex litigation administration in Washington D.C., John Michael Donohue established his own accounting and business counseling practice in Charlottesville, Virginia, focusing on closely held business entities, estates, and trusts. In addition to owning and operating his own business, John Michael currently holds a full-time faculty appointment at National College, Charlottesville, in the Business Administration curricular area, lecturing in all subjects related to accounting, business management, economics, and sales and contract law. He published a textbook in 2010 entitled, Small Business Creation and Development, parts of which were also published in 2010 in a peer-reviewed journal in Munich, Germany, and presented at a conference of economists in the Czech Republic in 2009. John Michael has also worked as a consultant for the World Bank, Washington, D.C., concentrating in Participatory Development. In community service, he currently serves as a member of the Fiscal Impact Advisory Committee, and the Jefferson Area Disability Services Board for Albemarle County, Virginia. He is a veteran of the United States Army, Judge Advocate General's Corps, retired at the Rank of Warrant Officer. John Michael is currently pursuing a doctoral degree in management from Walden University, Minneapolis.

Mary Good has worked in the Pharmacy field for 16 years and is presently a Field Colleague Trainer with a major retail chain pharmacy. Mary has an Associate of Arts degree from National College, is nationaly certified through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board, and is Virginia state licensed as a Pharmacy Technician. She teaches Pharmacy Technician Exam Success, Pharmacy Systems of Operations, Pharmacy Practice, and other Pharmacy courses at the Charlottesville Campus.

William Griffin has been an instructor with National College since 2001, where he has taught courses in English, business, philosophy, logic, critical thinking, government, history, political science, economics, parliamentary procedure, and human resources. He has experience as a consultant and partner in two corporations; has previously taught at St. Joseph's University, Ursinus College MBA program, and was a guest lecturer at Cornell University School of Labor Studies; was Director of Planning and Development for the Southeast Rural Community Assistance Project; served as President of the International Union of Electronic, Electrical, Salaried, Machine, and Furniture Workers and Vice President of the Philadelphia AFL-CIO; was Director of the Department of Labor's Green Thumb and Appalachian Council Job Corps programs; and served as President of Honeywell Corporation Union. William served in the U.S. Marine Corps, where he achieved the rank of Sergeant.

Russell Hass works as a Cyber Security Analyst and Network Engineer, where he reviews cyber threats related to Information Systems, to include technical analysis and reporting. He has managed a 1000-user Enterprise Network consisting of 5 different Networks with multiple Cisco devices and firewalls. Russell holds a Bachelor of Arts degree and Master of Science degree in Information Technology Management. He is an instructor in the Information Systems Engineering program at the Charlottesville Campus.

Stephanie Krautkramer has been a Certified Professional Coder since 2007 and has an extensive background in inpatient coding, outpatient coding, critical care, cardiology, GI, hematology, oncology, palliative, pulmonary, geriatric, nephrology, infectious disease, endocrinology, rheumatology, and general medicine. She is a medical coding auditor on a contractual basis to many companies on the west coast. Stephanie is an instructor of medical coding and billing courses at the National College Charlottesville Campus.

Larry  Liggan - Director of Health Care Education

Larry Liggan tenured 18 years of direct patient care experience while serving in the US Army. He has been a part of distinguished duty assignments with the US Army Burn Center at Fort Sam Houston and BN Aid Station PA at Fort Hood. Larry received his Bachelor of Science degree as Physician Associate from University of Oklahoma and a Master of Education degree from American InterContinental University. He currently serves as the Director of Health Care Education & Department Chair for the Charlottesville Campus, as well as an instructor of all medical core courses.

Colt Mazeau holds a degree in Computer Science from Colgate University. He has been an instructor of Microsoft Office, keyboarding, and various other courses at National College for over 17 years.

Paul  Wellen - Instructor

Paul Wellen has over 20 years of teaching experience in a variety of educational settings, including secondary schools in Colombia and Turkey and universities in Sri Lanka and China. He has been an instructor at National College in Charlottesville since 1994, where he has taught courses in English, rhetoric, psychology, communication, economics, and geography, among others. Paul holds a bachelor's degree, a master's degree, and a PhD.
