Shara Taylor, director of admissions at the Harrisonburg Campus, can share a unique perspective with potential students who visit the campus. She’s not only a graduate from the campus with an associate degree in business administration–management; she’s also currently a student herself in the bachelor of business administration program in Harrisonburg.
“It’s nice to be able to tell them that you were in the same situation they’re in,” she says. “When someone is trying to balance working full time and going to school, you can say ‘I’m doing it to, I understand where you’re coming from, because I work full time and take night classes’.”
Perhaps there is something to this, because in just a short time, Shara has progressed from an admissions representative, to director of admissions, to one of the top-performing admissions representatives across all of National’s campuses. No doubt the “personal touch” is important to the students who attend National, and the many campus staff members who are National grads reinforce the value of what the college has to offer. “they ask a lot more questions once they know you’re a student, and are more interested in your personal perspective,” adds Shara.
