Picture Perfect
On Wednesday, May 28, Tracy Rosemond will walk across the stage as one of the first graduates from the Memphis Campus of National College. And when she accepts her diploma, well–the official photographer had better be on his toes! Tracy operates her own freelance photography business–TraMar Photography–and knows her way around a camera, both film and digital.
Tracy already had a degree as a computer network technician, but the business administration–management program at National appealed to her–“dealing with contracts and sales and practical law, all the things that really [encompass] management,” she explains.
Currently employed at an area hospital, she has taken advantage of her management training to serve as an intern under her supervisor. She’s also working with Career Center Director Dorothy Gourdine–“she’s really like my second mom,” admits Tracy–to explore other opportunities available to her. “I’m pretty much wide open at this point,” she says. “Anything I can get my hands in.” As she has progressed through her program, however, she has been able to apply her knowledge to her part-time photography business.
The mother of four teenagers also sets a great example for her children to follow–although there’s some good-natured kidding in the Rosemond household as well. “When I come home and show them my report card, they’re like ‘Mom you’re a nerd’!” But they have “no excuses” when it comes to their own grades, Tracy says more seriously. And, no doubt, they will be cheering the loudest when she walks across that stage and picks up her degree!
