Jack of All Trades

Martinsville Campus graduate Kevin Day keeps very busy at CP Films, which manufactures a variety of products including auto glass tinting film and specialty film products sold nationally in hardware and home improvement stores. Just don’t ask him to come up with a name for what he does.
“I don’t really have a job title,” he admits. “I do a lot paperwork, reports, and help out on the machines if they need me.”
I had a good experience there …I had good instructors
Being a jack-of-all-trades is something that appeals to Kevin. “I like what I’m doing…I plan on staying here,” he says. “I’ve been here for almost 13 years, the majority of the time I was [an equipment] operator,” he explains. Then Kevin had an opportunity to move from the manufacturing floor to the office, and welcomed the chance to put his National College education to work. As a double major in computer applications and business administration—management, Kevin’s computer skills are a real plus. “Taking advanced Excel has helped me a lot; [all of] the computer classes really helped me out,” he explains.
Kevin cites a long list of favorite instructors: Pamela VanNutt, computer chair; Wayne Mitchell, business chair; Elizabeth Hill, accounting instructor; Jerry Beckley, business instructor (now at the Bartlett, Tennessee Campus); and Greg Jessup, English instructor.
The bottom line? “I had a good experience [at National],” he says with conviction. “I had good instructors.”
