Danville, Kentucky Campus graduate April Butcher grew tired of low pay and long hours waiting tables. She paid a visit to National College and it wasn't long before Director of Admissions Gloria Walls got her enrolled in the Administrative Office Professional program. Today, April is Executive Assistant to a prominent Danville attorney and couldn't be happier about her new career.
At first, her two young children (ages 7 and 9) weren't happy about their mom being away at school three nights a week. But that's all changed now. "Now they're happy because I'm home in the evening and can be with them," says April. Having regular daytime hours and getting weekends off is a real plus for a working mom, she adds.
In addition to her classes, April was a work-study for the Campus, and garnered excellent experience in her field. When she obtained her "dream" job three months before graduation, everyone was sad to see her go!
Now instead of waiting tables, April spends her days running the law firm's front office, preparing legal documents, and keeping track of her attorney's schedule. With a law practice that spans a variety of areas, from real estate to wills and even criminal cases, there is always something important that needs to be done with skill and accuracy. It's a big job, but thanks to her solid preparation at National, April is more than up to the task. April it sums it up nicely: "I am proud of my job and I feel good about what I do."
